Christchurch City Council Information Network

Waitākiri Bottle Lake Forest Park is now protected by a network of environmental sensors.

A network of five environmental sensors is being trialed in Waitākiri/Bottle Lake Forest. The Christchurch City Council Information Network (CCCIN) will help protect this special part of our city by alerting emergency services when conditions indicate a heightened risk of fire breaking out.

An online portal and mobile app is also on offer for residents who would like to keep an eye on things like pollen count in the area.

Visit cccin.org.nz to see the network in action.

Progress: Ōtautahi-Christchurch is the first New Zealand city to trial using thermal imagery and particulate detection sensros, to ientify the early stages of forest fires and to automatically notify fire and emergency services, forest management staff, and park rangers.
